Terms and conditions

Last updated: 2 October 2026

These terms apply when you use the website dunetribe4x4.com, when you send us a booking request, and to any booking you make with us. How we handle your personal data is explained in our privacy policy.

Who we are

The website is run by Dune Tribe Rent a Car LLC (Arabic: رفاق الكثبان لتأجير السيارات ش.م.م), a limited liability company of the Sultanate of Oman.

We are also the company you rent the car from. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Dune Tribe Rent a Car LLC. "You" means the person who uses the website or sends a booking request.

What we offer

We rent self-drive 4x4 cars: the Jeep Wrangler 4-door and the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024. Each car has a hard-shell roof-top tent for 2 adults and a camping kit: bedding, fridge, stove, chairs, table, lights, compressor and recovery kit.

Paid extras: additional driver, child seat, ground tent (for 2 more people) and night pick-up. Their prices are given on request. They are set out in your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up.

The minimum rental is 3 days. We count rental days as the number of nights between the pick-up date and the return date. For example, if you pick up the car on 10 March and return it on 13 March, that is 3 rental days.

How a booking request works

You cannot book or pay online on this website. You send a request, and we reply.

Sending a request is free. A request does not reserve a car and does not oblige you to book. We may decline a request, for example if no car is available.

Prices and availability on the website, including the estimated total in the booking form, are not binding. They become binding only when we confirm them in writing.

When the contract is made

A contract between you and us is made only when both of these have happened:

Until then, neither you nor we are bound. When we receive your deposit, we confirm your booking to you in writing, by email or WhatsApp. If your payment arrives after the deadline and the car is no longer available, no contract is made and we pay your money back in full.

Your booking confirmation states:

At pick-up, you sign a rental agreement. It contains the detailed rules for using the car. You can read its standard text before you book, on our rental agreement page. The rental agreement cannot add costs or obligations that were not in your booking confirmation or on that page when you paid the deposit. If it does, those new terms do not apply to you.

These terms are part of your contract with us. When you pay the deposit, you accept these terms and the terms in your booking confirmation. Please read them, and the rental agreement page, before you pay.

Prices and payments

Prices on the website are estimates in Omani rials (OMR). The final price is the price in your booking confirmation. Whether prices include 5% Omani VAT is set out in your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up.

After the contract is made, we do not raise the price. Other charges are possible only as set out in your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up, for example the excess if the car is damaged.

ItemWhat it meansWhen
Deposit (advance payment)30% of the rental price, paid to confirm your booking. It is part of the price. It is not the security deposit. At confirmation
BalanceThe rest of the rental price. At pick-up
Security depositA hold on your card. It is not a payment. At pick-up

The deposit and the security deposit are two different things.

After you return the car, we release the security deposit hold. If the rental agreement allows a charge, for example the excess for damage, we may take that amount from the hold. We tell you in writing what each charge is for. How long it takes until the hold disappears from your account depends on your bank.

How to pay the deposit is stated in your booking confirmation. The amount of the security deposit is set out in your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up.

If you pay from an account in another currency, your bank or card provider may charge its own fees for currency conversion.

Cancellation by you

Until the contract is made, you can withdraw your request at any time, free of charge. Tell us by email or WhatsApp.

After the contract is made, you can cancel under the cancellation and refund rules in your booking confirmation. Please read them before you pay the deposit.

EU and UK law give a 14-day right of withdrawal for many online and distance purchases. This right does not apply to car rental for fixed dates. You keep any other right to cancel that the law gives you.

Changes or cancellation by us

If we cannot provide the car you booked, we tell you as soon as possible.

We may offer you another car or other dates instead. You are free to accept or refuse. You never pay more for another car or other dates unless you agree to it in writing.

What happens to the money you have paid, including any refund, is set out in your booking confirmation. This does not limit any right you have under the law, for example a right to a refund or to compensation.

Driver requirements and documents

Every driver must show a national driving licence and a passport at pick-up. Drivers from some countries also need an International Driving Permit. If you are not sure, please ask us before you book.

The minimum age and the licence requirements are set by the insurer. Your booking confirmation states them, so you know them before you pay the deposit. They are also in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up.

If a driver cannot show the required documents at pick-up, we cannot give the car to that driver. What happens to your payments in that case is set out in your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up.

Pick-up and return

You can pick up and return the car:

Pick-up and return times are between 08:00 and 20:00, Oman time (GMT+4). Night pick-up is a paid extra, on request. The exact places and times are stated in your booking confirmation. The rules for late return are set out in your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up.

Insurance and use of the car

The cars are insured. The insurance cover, including the cover for tyres, glass and recovery of the car, and the excess are set out in your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up. The excess is the part of the cost of damage that you pay yourself.

The rules on fuel, mileage, cleaning, smoking and pets, and any fees for them, are also set out in your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up.

You must follow the traffic laws of Oman. You may drive on the marked tracks in Wahiba Sands. The other rules on where you may drive, including off-road driving and whether you may take the car outside Oman, are set out in your booking confirmation and in the rental agreement you sign at pick-up.

Wild camping is common in Oman. Please camp away from villages, farms and private land. Take all your rubbish with you and leave the place as you found it.

Your rights as a consumer

Use of the website

When you use this website:

We may ignore requests that look like spam or abuse.

We work to keep the information on the website correct, but it may contain errors. If something about your booking is different from the website, for example the car or the camping kit, we tell you in your booking confirmation, before you pay the deposit. Travel information about Oman on the website is general information. We may change, pause or stop the website, or parts of it, at any time.

Links to WhatsApp and Instagram lead to services run by others. The map in the booking form comes from OpenStreetMap. Their own terms apply, and we are not responsible for their content. Our privacy policy explains what data they receive.

Intellectual property

The texts, logo and design of this website belong to us or to our licensors. You may view, print or save pages for your personal use. Any other use, such as copying or publishing them, needs our written permission.

The photos and the map data are not ours. The photos are listed with their licences in Photo credits and trademarks, and one of them is in the public domain. The map data is available under the Open Database License. You may use them as those licences allow. These terms do not limit what those licences allow.

The photos on this website are illustrative stock photos. They do not show our own cars or our camping kit, and some were not taken in Oman. The car you rent may look different. Each entry below links to the original source.

Governing law and courts

These terms, and any contract made through a booking request, are governed by the law of the Sultanate of Oman.

Disputes can be brought before the courts of Muscat. If you are a consumer, you can also bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, if the law of that country gives you this right.

The choice of Omani law does not take away the protection that the consumer law of your country gives you, where that law applies to you.

Complaints and contact

If something is not right, please tell us. Write to info@dunetribe4x4.com or send a WhatsApp message to +968 7673 3227. Please include your reference number, if you have one. We will look into your complaint and reply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. The terms in force on the day we send your booking confirmation apply to that booking. We do not change the terms of a confirmed booking without your agreement.

Language and validity

These terms are available in several languages. If a translation says something different from the English text, the English text applies, unless mandatory law says otherwise. If a term can be understood in more than one way, the meaning that is most favourable to you applies.

If a court finds any part of these terms invalid, the rest of the terms remains valid.
